Hi, one and all! Hope everyone is well this, uh, bleak Monday morning. It looks like it might clear up, but, it has been yucky here! It isn’t as yucky as Colorado and other points north, though. Gracious! What are they going to do with all that snow? I recall one year when I lived in Illinois with my hubby. It was one of the record years for snow fall. There was so much of it, in Chicago they were loading on to freight cars and sending it south to melt via the railroad! What a mess it was!
Those of you in the digi-scrapping community must have heard about Mye de Leon’s sweet little boy, Alphonse. After he was born, it was discovered that he needed heart surgery. Unfortunately, the biggest obstacle was financial. So, Mye came to the community for help. I get goosebumps, ya’ll, when I see what all the community did to enable this little life to go on. Alphonse had his surgery! He is home and doing quite well! I’ll let Mye tell you the awesome details in this post. Down under February 3, the post is in diary form, she names the stores and folks who helped and some of the amounts. Gosh! I am so proud to be a part of this community! Just look at that little sweetie!

It isn’t very often that I see something that stirs a memory, a feeling from my youth. The older I get, the less frequent this happens it seems. I see a dish my mom used to have and it brings back such sweet memories. A song my father would sing. A picture of a place we had been as a family. You know what I mean. So, recently, when Dot, of Graphics by PokaDot, offered up a contest to win her new kit, “Made With Love”, I clicked over to enter. Ya can’t win if ya don’t enter! I saw that kit and, suddenly, there was that nostalgic twinge! It reminded me of my mother when she taught me to sew! It was such a sweet memory! So, this morning I got up, got my cuppa and sat down to look at my e-mail, there was a message from DigiShopTalk. I’m so dense, I couldn’t figure why I was getting an e-mail, and a personal message, yet, from DST! So, I go there and, lo and behold, it was a message from Miss Dot, herself, telling me I won that kit! Wahoo! This may seem silly, but, I think it was meant to be! I think my mother had a hand in this! LOL I feel like I have a part of my mom back with me now. I know – silly, eh? LOL It’s such a cool kit, too! Here is the shop preview from Dot’s own shop, Graphics by PokaDot.

I have to tell you all this. I’ve been a member of Karen Stimson’s (Wool Sweater Street)Yahoo group for forever! I am not a regular, but, I do read the posts and comment now and again. One day, while visiting, I was reading about another member, a Dot, who had recently done some neat goodies. Karen was sharing it with us. I started seeing things I had in my files! I recognized the scrap goodies as Sorority Scraps by Poka Dot – a subscription ‘club’ she offered for a once a month scrap club. Suddenly, it hit me. This Dot and the Dot in the group were one and the same! LOL Here I had chatted with her at Karen’s group, and, I had dealings with her, too, with the subscription club. I never made the connection! I felt like such a dolt! ’Cause, when I said something, she, Dot, was like, “Yeah, that’s me!” She evidently knew it all the time and, yet, it was news to me! LOL I can be so dense!
So, I’ve bent your, er, eyes, with enough for one sitting. Here are the final parts to “A Rose is a Rose”, this month’s freebie from Miss Edna and I. The links are beneath the preview. Then, further on down, there is Miss Edna’s preview. If you click on it, it will go to her blog so you may download her final parts, too, if you haven’t been there, yet.
